Due to packaging constraints, the De-latching system has
been developed for a "B" class platform launched in the first
quarter of 2002.
During crash, the pedal box is displaced linearly under
the cross car beam. This action de-latches the pedal and allows it
to swing to its required "safe" position.
-
This method can easily be adapted for
inclusion onto the clutch pedal.
-
Should it be required, a stop can be
added to the brake pedal to allow 0.6g deceleration with the pedal
de-latched.
-
Should it be required, KSR can offer
a patented throttle pedal de-latching system.
