The De-coupler is fitted to the new Mondeo and Jaguar X
type. The system completely disconnects the brake pedal from the
brake system allowing the pedal to move to the bulk head following a
crash.
- The system is activated by the relative deformation
between the bulkhead and cross car beam.
- The system is intrinsically safe requiring
significant vehicle deformation to effect de-coupling.
- De-coupling occurs at the booster pushrod.
- No modifications are required to the pushrod,
carryover parts can be used
